Google Ads Specialist

Run paid search for pet businesses with disciplined budgets, verified tracking, documented decisions, and relentless attention to the searches clients pay for.

Role details: This is a 100% remote contractor role open to applicants worldwide.

The role

A local pet business cannot afford to buy the wrong traffic and discover the waste at the end of the month. You will manage approved Google Ads and Local Services Ads work, watch search terms and budget pacing, verify conversion tracking, and document why each meaningful change was made.

This role is not about making a dashboard look busy. It is about directing client budget toward qualified demand, catching tracking or policy problems quickly, and giving Account Management a clear account story they can explain to the client.

You will work inside approved strategy and budget boundaries. When the data is unclear, the tracking is broken, or a change could create significant risk, you stop, verify, and escalate before spending the client’s money.

What you will own

  • Execute approved campaign builds and optimizations across Google Ads and Local Services Ads for assigned accounts.
  • Monitor budget pacing, campaign health, policy issues, and material performance changes.
  • Review search terms every week, add appropriate negatives, and document significant traffic decisions.
  • Plan and run approved tests across ad copy, assets, audiences, landing pages, and bidding approaches.
  • Verify conversion tracking, call tracking, forms, and account hygiene. Escalate discrepancies immediately.
  • Prepare accurate monthly reporting notes that explain what changed, why it changed, what happened, and what should happen next.
  • Coordinate with Account Management, SEO, and Web on goals, landing pages, tracking, and client context.
  • Keep ClickUp and campaign change records current enough for another qualified specialist to understand the account.

How our core values show up in this role

Own It

You treat assigned budgets, tracking, and account health as your responsibility. Waste, broken conversions, or policy problems do not sit because someone else might notice them.

Over Communicate

You document changes and raise anomalies early. Account Managers know what changed, why, and what the client needs to understand.

Understand Before Doing

You understand the client’s services, capacity, geography, goals, and tracking before changing bids, budgets, keywords, or campaigns.

Checked In

You monitor assigned accounts on schedule, respond to alerts and approvals, and keep the operating record current.

Results Over Activity

More edits are not automatically better management. You prioritize qualified leads, useful tests, clean tracking, and budget efficiency over motion.

Only Client Energy

Clients receive clear explanations and controlled execution. They do not discover preventable waste, unexplained changes, or broken tracking before we do.

Talk Is Cheap

Recommendations are backed by source data, implemented through the approved path, and followed by documented results.

What good looks like

  • Budget pacing and account health are monitored before problems become month-end explanations.
  • Reported conversions are verified against the client’s calls and forms rather than accepted blindly.
  • Search-term waste is found, acted on, and documented consistently.
  • Tests have a reason, a defined variable, and a recorded outcome.
  • Account Managers receive accurate notes before client reviews.
  • Every significant change is documented in ClickUp or the approved change record.

You may be a strong fit if

  • You are curious enough to investigate a strange number instead of explaining it away.
  • You can manage multiple local-service accounts while respecting the differences in services, markets, and capacity.
  • You are comfortable saying that tracking is not trustworthy yet and fixing the measurement before making a confident claim.
  • You write concise account notes that another person can act on.
  • You care about what became a qualified call or booking, not only what became a platform conversion.

This role is probably not a fit if

  • You make account changes from habit without a data-backed reason.
  • You treat platform recommendations as instructions.
  • You wait until reporting day to check spend, search terms, disapprovals, or tracking.
  • You hide weak performance behind jargon or vanity metrics.
  • You make budget or live-campaign changes outside the approved process.

Required experience

  • Hands-on experience managing Google Ads for local or service businesses, including search terms, negatives, budgets, and campaign structure.
  • Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager, GA4, call tracking, and form conversion verification.
  • Ability to analyze campaign performance and explain decisions in clear written English.
  • A disciplined approach to approvals, documentation, and client-budget boundaries.

Helpful, not required

  • Local Services Ads experience.
  • Meta Ads or landing-page testing experience.
  • GoHighLevel familiarity.
  • Experience with veterinary clinics or other pet businesses.
