Content Writer

Write researched, human-sounding content for pet businesses that answers real questions, follows the brief, supports search intent, and never invents the proof.

Role details: This is a 100% remote contractor role open to applicants worldwide.

The role

Our content has two jobs. It must help a pet owner understand a service and make a decision, and it must give search engines a clear, useful page to surface. You will write articles, service pages, website copy, email, social, and ad copy from approved briefs and source material.

The work must sound like the client, not a generic agency and not a machine. You will research before drafting, follow the assigned search intent and brand voice, check every material claim, and coordinate with SEO and Design so the finished asset works as a whole.

AI tools may assist approved parts of the workflow. They do not replace source review, judgment, editing, fact checking, or responsibility for the final draft.

What you will own

  • Write long-form articles, service pages, website copy, email, social, and ad copy from approved briefs.
  • Research the topic using client materials and credible sources before making claims.
  • Match the client’s documented voice, service facts, audience, location, and approval boundaries.
  • Apply the required search intent, headings, keywords, metadata, links, and page structure naturally.
  • Fact-check names, services, locations, numbers, policies, and material claims. Never invent statistics, results, testimonials, or citations.
  • Submit drafts by the assigned deadline and complete requested revisions promptly.
  • Flag unclear briefs, missing source material, risky claims, or conflicting feedback early.
  • Keep ClickUp tasks, source notes, draft links, and revision status current.

How our core values show up in this role

Own It

You own the accuracy, voice, usefulness, and readiness of the draft. You do not hand obvious fact or brief problems to the editor to discover.

Over Communicate

You raise missing sources, unclear intent, conflicting facts, and deadline risks before they become rushed revisions.

Understand Before Doing

You understand the audience, question, service, desired action, source boundary, and search intent before writing.

Checked In

You keep drafts and tasks current, respond to feedback, and make progress and blockers visible during the agreed working window.

Results Over Activity

Word count is not the result. The result is accurate content that answers the reader, supports the page goal, and requires light rather than structural correction.

Only Client Energy

Clients receive polished copy in their voice. They do not see unsupported claims, internal notes, raw AI output, or confusion over the brief.

Talk Is Cheap

A draft is not complete because it sounds confident. It is complete when the claims are supported, the brief is met, and the file is ready for review.

What good looks like

  • Drafts answer the reader’s main question early and stay aligned with the assigned intent.
  • Every material claim is supported by the approved source packet or clearly flagged before delivery.
  • The writing matches the client’s voice and avoids generic AI patterns, filler, and repeated ideas.
  • Required keywords, metadata, headings, and links are handled naturally rather than forced.
  • Drafts arrive on time and usually need focused edits instead of complete rewrites.
  • Feedback is applied consistently across future work.

You may be a strong fit if

  • You enjoy researching enough to know what you can and cannot responsibly say.
  • You can write plainly about technical or industry topics without flattening the nuance.
  • You can follow a detailed brief while improving the clarity and persuasion of the piece.
  • You edit your own work for structure, repetition, unsupported claims, and unnatural language.
  • You are comfortable asking for facts instead of filling gaps with plausible copy.

This role is probably not a fit if

  • You treat the first AI output as a finished draft.
  • You invent statistics, credentials, results, quotes, or service details to make the copy stronger.
  • You ignore the brief because you prefer a different angle.
  • You submit work without checking names, facts, links, voice, and formatting.
  • You repeat the same writing problems after receiving clear feedback.

Required experience

  • Writing samples from published articles, pages, campaigns, or comparable work for real organizations.
  • Working knowledge of on-page SEO, search intent, headings, internal links, and metadata.
  • Strong research, fact-checking, self-editing, and plain-English writing skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed briefs, brand guidelines, source boundaries, and deadlines.

Helpful, not required

  • Pet, veterinary, or local-service knowledge.
  • WordPress or content-management experience.
  • Email or advertising copy experience.
  • Experience working with structured AI-assisted writing workflows.
